As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of clinical and management experience working with the adult population, my strengths are assessment, diagnosis, and intervention.

My intervention models most often practiced are cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. My focus in the initial session is to begin establishing a trusting relationship while assessing the presenting problem and identifying the patient’s strengths to work through the problem.

In the assessment, a focus is placed on where the patient is and where he/she wants to be in the near future. I use a holistic approach that includes body, mind, and spirit.

In the area of chemical dependency, I focus on the foundational first 3 steps of the 12-Step Model and strongly encourage the patient to connect with a peer support group and obtain a sponsor to work the 12-Step model in its entirety.

I focus on patient education of relapse prevention and recovery techniques and strategies, stages of relapse, and stages of recovery. Recovery work includes education on types of denial and how to overcome it, understanding the disease of addiction and its impact on the patients bio-psycho-social areas of the patient’s life.

I possess a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in health/mental health, and a Doctorate Degree in Theology.
